I’m the voice, author, and creator behind dailyflavorkitchen. The blog started in the spring of 2018 while I was still working full‑time as a graphic designer in Portland. I began posting quick dinner ideas for my boyfriend Mark, who was always asking, “What’s for tonight?” Within a few months the site grew from a handful of friends to a modest audience of 2,000 monthly readers.

Fast forward to 2024, dailyflavorkitchen now hosts more than 200 tested recipes, a weekly newsletter that reaches 15,000 subscribers, and an Instagram community of 120,000 followers. I’ve partnered with a few local farms for seasonal produce boxes and even released a small e‑cookbook that sold out its first print run of 1,000 copies. The numbers keep climbing, but the core mission stays the same: sharing honest, home‑cooked food that fits into a busy life.

I live in Asheville, North Carolina, with Mark and our two kids, Lily (7) and Noah (4). When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge, collecting fresh basil from my windowsill, or digging through my vinyl collection for a good jazz record. One quirky habit of mine is that I always taste a dish with my left hand—something I’ve been doing since I was a teenager and never quite figured out why.

In the past year I added a free meal‑planning tool that lets readers drag and drop recipes into a weekly calendar, and I started a monthly “Ask Julia” Q&A where I answer cooking questions in the comments. The response has been overwhelming—over 500 questions in the first three months alone, and I’ve learned as much from my readers as they have from me.

Looking ahead, I’m working on a series of short video tutorials that will debut in early 2025, and I hope to host a live cooking class in Asheville’s community kitchen sometime this summer.
